Location- The location was great-one block away from the beach and close enough for us to walk to Washington Street Mall and the historic district. However, there is no parking lot onsite which was annoying as we had to park a few blocks away. Room-We stayed in the wicker garden room. One note-the room is very, very small so if you plan on spending time at the B&B then I would pick elsewhere. I'm sure the garden area is very nice at other times but it poured on Friday turning it into a mosquito breeding ground. Otherwise the garden room has a small private garden area for the guests to enjoy. Food-The breakfast was adequate but definitely nothing spectacular-fruit, yogurt, granola, an egg strata, and bacon. If you're really into the breakfasts at B&B's then I would pass. We actually skipped it on our second day. They also advertise tea service which was just lemonade and cookies. :( Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would return. However, I wouldn't be opposed to going to a different B&B either.

After spending Memorial Day weekend here with a special "crush," I can safely say that the Summer Cottage Inn -- and Cape May in general -- is a lovely place to get away for a summer weekend. We stayed in the "Sweet Victorian" room, which included a nice queen bed, a couch, TV with cable, and a private bathroom (with shower -- no tub). Afternoon tea on the porch was lovely, though quite high in sugar. The home-baked cookies were delicious, and my travel companion loved the carrot cake. Just sitting on the porch in rocking chairs and swings was great. The inn is one block from a beautiful beach, and everything in Cape May is pretty much within walking distance. However, the inn has bicycles that guests can rent free of charge, and it was great riding around town and along the beach on the boardwalk. We visited the Cape May lighthouse one day, too, and we would have taken the bikes there if we had more time. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse was cool and offered great views of the beaches, ocean, and wildlife preserve. And finally, you can feel confident when visiting Cape May that you won't be running into too many "Jersey Shore" types, though a few can be spotted around town. If you're looking for a more fist-pumping scene, head to nearby Wildwood. We passed and simply "beat the beat back" in the Sweet Victorian with the radio on the '80s station.
